The event disseminating the results of the e-OpenSpace project
The creation of an European e-learning platform dedicated to the protection of personal data and a summary of experience from 12 months of using the GDPR are the main topics of the meeting "GDPR for a year with us. E-OpenSpace project. " It will be held on May 30, 2019 in Warsaw. Its organizer is the Personal Data Protection Office in cooperation with the Jagiellonian University.
The upcoming event will be an opportunity to discuss the "e-OpenSpace - European Innovative Open Platform for Electronic Networking and Sustainable Provision of Adult Centered Education in Privacy and Personal Data Protection" project. The Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) and the Jagiellonian University (UJ) participate in its implementation, being part of an international consortium. The project is financed by the European Commission from the Erasmus + program "Key Action 2 - Cooperation for Innovation and Exchange of Good Practices, Action - Strategic Partnership for adult education".
The project is to prepare an e-learning platform that will be designed for the exchange of information by personal data protection authorities. However, as an educational tool, it is to be available to all interested parties, enabling them independent education in the field of personal data protection law and privacy.
Previous works in the project focused on developing the substantive content of the platform which is divided into 10 modules, presenting, among others:
- conditions for the legal processing of personal data,
- the rights of data subjects,
- obligations of controllers and processors,
- codes of conduct and certification mechanisms,
- transfer of personal data to third countries or international organizations.
Currently, the consortium's work focuses on the technical aspects of the future platform's functioning.
The participation of UODO in the EU project is an example of one of many activities in which the Office has engaged to disseminate knowledge about the personal data protection system. The announced event will also enable a broader presentation of educational and international activities currently carried out by UODO.
In addition, the meeting will enable to discuss the experience of the data protection authority related to the first year of application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the challenges that all those obliged to comply with the reformed provisions had to face. Such summaries are favored by the date of the conference, which falls almost a year from the date of application of the GDPR. The conference will be held on May 30, 2019 in Warsaw (Oxford Tower, Chałubińskiego 8 Street).
