New competitions for participants of the "Your data – your concern" program

The President of the Personal Data Protection Office invites students of schools participating in the 12th edition of the "Your data – your concern" program to take part in the competition entitled "Personal Data Protection on a Daily Basis". The task is to prepare a voice recording addressed to seniors on the principles of personal data protection. Additionally, in a separate competition, we will select the best educational initiative implemented in the current edition of the program.

The competitions start on March 1, 2022.

Competition for students

Since young people are much better at dealing with new technologies than their parents, and first of all grandparents, it is worth using the potential of young people and reaching the elderly. Therefore, this year, the task of the competition participants is to prepare a voice recording (podcast) for seniors on the principles of personal data protection and safe use of the Internet. The recording can be made on the basis of the "It is worth knowing…" series of advice developed by the Personal Data Protection Office for the purposes of implementing the educational program.

The aim of the competition is to encourage young people to become more interested in the issues of privacy and personal data protection, to promote the principles of personal data protection, to popularize knowledge on personal data protection, and to emphasize the important role of privacy and personal data protection in the life of every human being.

– The novelty in the current edition of the program is that in the competition for students, we will award prizes in two categories: primary school and secondary school. This is the change expected by the participants – explained Urszula Góral, Director of the International Cooperation and Education Department at the Personal Data Protection Office.

Competition for the best educational initiative

Traditionally, along with the competition for students, the Personal Data Protection Office announces a competition for schools and teacher training institutions. In this competition, we will select the best educational activity (e.g. classes, games, educational games, workshops), which serve to disseminate knowledge on personal data protection and the right to privacy among students and teachers, and were implemented in the school year 2021/2022 based on original lesson plans.

Call for entries and announcement of results

In both competitions, entries should be sent by April 14, 2022 via a special form that will be available at: https://e-learning.uodo.gov.pl/.

As for the results, in the case of both competitions, the Personal Data Protection Office will announce them on May 9, 2022 on the website www.uodo.gov.pl.

Attractive prizes await the winners. In addition, the school or teacher training institution which takes first place in the competition for the best educational initiative will receive a special award from the President of the Personal Data Protection Office – a "Golden Pen" statuette.

Detailed information on the rules of participation in the competitions is available in the regulations added below.
