Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Rights
The Personal Data Protection Office invites you to a scientific seminar entitled "Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Rights". This online event will take place on September 20, 2021 at 9:00 am.
Artificial intelligence (AI), like any modern technology, brings both opportunities and threats. The latter violate a number of rights related, for example, to the protection of personal data or the right to privacy, which is why it is necessary to introduce appropriate regulations to ensure the security and compatibility of AI solutions with fundamental rights in the EU.
Is it possible to compromise on the protection of personal data in AI systems? Can artificial intelligence violate fundamental rights? What are the possible interactions between data protection and artificial intelligence? These and other questions will be answered by invited experts.
In addition, the event will address, among other issues, the joint opinion of the EDPB and the EDPS on the European Commission's proposal for a regulation establishing harmonised rules on artificial intelligence adopted on 18 June 2021 during the 50th plenary meeting of the EDPB. The adopted opinion recalled that data protection authorities are already enforcing the GDPR and Directive 2016/680 in matters of artificial intelligence systems involving personal data in order to guarantee the protection of fundamental rights, and in particular the right to data protection.
